About

Laura Waters

Laura Waters teaches communication and public speaking courses at Coastal Pines Technical College.
She is also a Creative Guide and Recovery Coach at her inspired business, An Artful Recovery.

Laura coaches people (mostly women) who are navigating life’s challenging transitions and those struggling with and affected by substance use disorder and other dependencies. Her unique blend of art practices and other holistic methods give her clients the ability to find healing and freedom, as they rediscover their creativity, life direction, and worth. She also facilitates a weekly online shamanic drumming meditation group, and a monthly new moon circle for women called Lunar Alchemy.

Laura has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UGA, and a master’s in communication from Georgia State University. She has 14 years of teaching experience at the college level. In 2015, Laura won the Adjunct Professor of the Year award, given by the Golden Key International Honor Society and is the 2023 recipient of the Rick Perkins Award (aka, Instructor of the Year) at Coastal Pines Technical College.

She earned her Recovery Coach Professional designation in 2022, which builds on 15 years of lived experience as a person in long-term recovery. The CDC recently lauded the RCP designation for its commitment to ethics and integrity standards in recovery coaching.
