Dark Side

In the spirit of vulnerability, I wanted to share a poem I wrote with you. As a female Enneagram 8, I tend to relate more to dark feminine traits rather than the lighter, more stereotypical traits of women. And this poem was born of a conversation around just that… Also an intentional lean toward tapping into my creativity.

If I tend to walk on the dark side
Does it explain the way I’ve felt
Misunderstood, different, separate
 
If I tend to play on the dark side
Does it make me less playful
Less feminine, more competitive
 
If I tend to laugh on the dark side
Does it make me less fun
More serious, harder, tougher
 
If I tend to cry on the dark side
Does it make me more emotional
Or less likely to have any emotions
 
If I tend to lead on the dark side
Does it make me easier to listen to
Or are you intimidated and scared
 
If I tend to love on the dark side
Does it make me more appealing
More passionate, attractive, connected
 
If I tend to speak on the dark side
Does it make me louder
Or does it make me too much
 
If I tend to live on the dark side
Does it make me more alive
Or do I need to step into the light
