About
Chief Angela Smith
Angela Smith was a new Brunswick Police officer 20 years ago, fresh out of the academy, when Chaplain Tim Brown watched with her field training officer as she got out of her patrol vehicle and chatted with people on a street corner.
Smith had served as interim chief of the department since former Chief Kevin Jones’ retirement in January. Prior to that Smith had served as assistant chief following a career that included stops at every rank along the way after beginning as a patrol officer two decades ago.
In 2025 she took the oath of office to become the new Brunswick police chief, a moment celebrated by colleagues, friends, family and her church.
She says that the foundation of the mission to protect and serve remains the same as it always has been. “I step into this role with one clear commitment, to serve with integrity and courage and to lead with purpose.”
